Digital Formation's consulting services are provided by Michael Holmes
and other affiliated consultants. This allows Digital Formation to offer
a wide variety of services to clients, from log analysis to equity determination.
Michael is the President of Digital Formation and has been providing
consulting services for more than 25 years. He has a Ph.D. from the University of London
in Geology and an MS degree from Colorado School of Mines in Petroleum Engineering.
His background includes extensive technical due diligence/expert witness experience, such
as work done for the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Department of Energy.
These studies involved valuation of company oil and gas properties, petrophysical analysis
and reservoir description, including equity determination. He has been retained as an
instructor world-wide by the United Nations and IHRDC in geology, reservoir engineering,
well log analysis and economics.
Many of Michael's analytic processes have been embedded in the software produced by
Digital
Formation. He was directly responsible for the development of the log analysis
product (LESA), and is intimately involved in the constant
dynamic growth of that product.
He has undertaken both domestic and international projects. As primary or secondary
contractor, he has participated in petrophysical studies in California, Wyoming, Colorado,
Texas, New Mexico, Illinois, Canada and Mexico. In South America he has been involved in
projects in Argentina and Venezuela. On an international basis, outside the Americas, he
has worked both on consulting projects and teaching in Syria, England, Nigeria, Poland,
Kuwait, Bulgaria, Ethiopia, Jordan, China, Southeast Asia, Uganda, Norway, Spain,
Australia, Abu Dhabi, Libya, and the North Sea.
Michael's professional papers have been published by SPE, AAPG, SPWLA, the Oil and Gas
Journal, and other professional journals. He was the 1997-1998 President of the Denver
Well Logging Society, is active with the Society of Professional Well Log Analysts, and
the American Association of Petroleum Geologists.
He is also a member of: Society of Petroleum Engineers, Rocky Mountain Association of
Geologists, Society of Core Analysts, Association of Petroleum Geological Scientists
(certified), and the Denver Petroleum Society.
